It was a great pleasure to attend the 28th Polish Maritime Pilots’ Congress in Szczecin today, representing EMPA – European Maritime Pilots’ Association.

During the opening ceremony, I had the opportunity to speak about Safety and Sustainability in Ports, highlighting EMPA’s collaborative approach to addressing current challenges and future tasks in European pilotage.

We were joined by distinguished colleagues:

    Simon Pelletier, President of IMPA – International Maritime Pilots' Association
    Erik Dalege, President of Bundeslotsenkammer and former EMPA President

The remaining speakers addressed key topics such as:

    Civil liability in pilotage
    E-navigation
 *   Security concerns related to Portable Pilot Units (PPUs), including spoofing and jamming risks

Congratulations to our Polish colleagues for the warm welcome and excellent organization – especially Jerzy Kaczmarek and Mirosław Drozd. Events like this reinforce the strength of our international community and the shared commitment to safe and efficient maritime navigation.
